Monster Energy Drinks are Evil?

I pulled this from a post I made on Facebook a year or so ago because I think I’m going to pull all my noteworthy posts from there as part of my efforts to eventually drop the site entirely.

I’ve been around ultra conservative Christians all my life and this is a new one. Apparently Monster Energy’s logo is the Mark of the Beast. Someone, somewhere made the claim that the scratch marks are actually the Hebrew Vav (the number 6). Which, if you squint a little bit, yeah maybe?

But that’s still fundamentally wrong on multiple levels. Why Hebrew? Because that looks the closest to what they were going for? The original text was Greek.

Second, English (afaik) is the only language to pronounce the text as 6-6-6. The original language wrote it as six hundred sixty six (ἑξακόσιοι ἑξήκοντα ἕξ). Again, translated directly to Hebrew would be תרס”ו (Tav Resh Samech Vav).

Third, if I was Monster Energy and I heard about this crazy theory, I’d 100% lean into it. It’s not like ‘Conservative Christian’ and the high octane energy adrenaline fiends Monster markets for are remotely the same demographic. Slap a goat head and a pentagram on there, some clever tagline and you’re done. Oh wait, they already have the tagline don’t they…
