Buffalo Chicken Sliders

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven — Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Slice rolls — Without separating the individual rolls, slice the entire sheet of Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally to create a top and bottom slab. Place the bottom half in a greased 9×13 baking dish.
  3. Mix filling — In a large bowl, combine shredded chicken, buffalo sauce, ranch dressing, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Mix well.
  4. Layer — Sprinkle half the cheese over the bottom buns. Spread the buffalo chicken mixture evenly over the cheese. Top with the remaining cheese.
  5. Add top buns — Place the top slab of rolls over the chicken and cheese.
  6. Make butter topping — Mix melted butter with Italian seasoning and garlic powder. Brush generously over the tops of the rolls.
  7. Bake — Bake for 15–20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the tops are golden brown.
  8. Slice and serve — Remove from the oven, let rest briefly, then cut along the roll lines into individual sliders.

Notes

Chicken shortcut — A store-bought rotisserie chicken is the easiest route. You need about 3–4 cups shredded, which is roughly one whole chicken.

Heat level — Adjust the buffalo sauce to taste. Add more for more heat, or balance with extra ranch. A drizzle of honey over the chicken mixture mellows the spice nicely.

Cheese options — Pepper jack, provolone, or white American cheese all work well.

Make ahead — Assemble up to a few hours in advance, cover, and refrigerate. Add 5 minutes to the baking time when going straight from fridge to oven.

Serve with — Blue cheese or ranch dipping sauce, celery sticks, and carrot sticks on the side for a classic buffalo chicken experience.

Yield — Makes 12 sliders.
